Well, the end is about going to songwriters heaven; the rest is just about people who went to heaven. It is uploaded, here for someone who really seemed to love the time he spent on this site. and has nothing to do with ratings or the contest. (My friend who recorded it is clapping at the end, sorry, I don't know how to cut that part off). Peace. Look Homeward, Angel Miss Minnie and Grandma were neighbors, they’d been old widowed ladies for years They’d sit on the porch, shell beans and shuck corn Reminisce through the laughter and tears One winter, Miss Minnie took down sick, her son said she passed in her sleep And he brought a note that his mother wrote To my Grandma, saying old friend don’t weep
Just look homeward angel -There’s a land up ahead Where our husbands are sleeping, in our old feather beds Where the garden’s been weeded and the cows are all fed When your journey here ends, look homeward and then You will see me again
The boy down the road and my brotherwere inducted on the same day Still in their teens, traded sneakers and jeans For guns in a war far away My brother came back home and mended But his friend turned to powders and pills One night he phoned from a Vet’s nursing home Said John, if you are my friend still
Then look homeward angel - There’s a place not too far Where that girl you stole’s sitting back in my new car And we’re in our dress blues, the brass glitters like stars When your journey here ends, look homeward and then You will see me again I’m not old but I know the days ahead are far fewer than those behind And none of us knows, when and where our souls Will be called home in their own time So friends, let us love life together And know that the time we spend here Is a shadow, at most of our far greater home And we will all meet again there So look homeward angels, The road is not long To where the heavens are singing all of our songs And as each of us enters, we will all sing along When our journey here ends, look homeward and then We will all meet again When our journey here ends, look homeward and then We will all meet again
Ronnie - the only reason for the past tense is that there's been no sign, no word here for so long....I don't know anything else and didn't use past tense to mean anything more....I sure wish somebody would tell me something, if they do know anything, though......
