Hi Artistweekly.com, remember me? Its Richard Ringer. I just wanted to drop you line to give you some info, I know weve had our squabbles artistweekly.com, what with you hating me, and what with me writing a song about it a while back, but the truth is I really have gotten a nice audience of listeners out there.you know, a few mixed in.Well, I just wanted to let you know, I did an album with a friend, and its now available for sale, if youre interested
Its called The Fan Fair Record, this is the band that I am in, partnered with JT Hathaway (Trip Sterling). It is available for sale with a full album description, and samples to listen to here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/fanfair
This is our first record for physical retail, (something you can hold in your hand), and it has been professionally manufactured by discmakers.com, so its no chinsey CD.
You may be wondering if it is all new material. Four tracks from the fourteen have been uploaded to icompositions previously, and two more have been redone, (She Took the Piano has been redone with drums, accordion, and new vocals, GO Figure has new drums and vocals) and of course all the eight remaining tracks are all brand new, never before heard.
So why is this important? Why should you be interested? This is in my opinion, the best thing Ive ever done, we truly believe this is a new and exiting sound that you will enjoy, it is VERY much worth the money, but dont take my word on it listen to what people say about it in this forum(thats where you come inwhere are you?!)
I never apologize Jack, I'm sorry that's just the way I am.
I would like to thank you Ronnie, old Master of the Mug shot, for pointing that out to, for, and at me!
Since we are on the topic, RandR, of "over my head" I would like to offer a few areas of consideration.
"...professionally manufactured by discmakers.com, so its no chinsey CD." It may have cost you guys a little out of pocket, but do not reckon that makes it a better recording as it does not.
Timing issues which magnify mediocre playing are the hallmark of the DIY league of musician/engineer/producer/et. al.
The CD has promise and is listenable. The lack of pure focus in the overall sound/arrangement and lyrical content only serves to exacerbate the blantant handholding with Led Zepplin, Porno for Pyros and Janes Addiction.
It is a good exercise in continuity but in the end will only serve as a base to build on rather than a springboard to capitilize from.
I said it was listen able and it is. The current musical climate has already passed you and this effort by and will most likely not recycle in our life time.
Jack ... Thank you for your humors and assessments. I'm a fan of both!
BC ... Do you think we should so quickly and easily write-off whatever doesn't fit OUR norm. Often (as with Richard) there's more than meets the eye. I must come back to Daniel Johnston, whose brilliance is shrouded in a cloak of apparent madness. Tom Waits isn't exactly a model of sanity, but thank God we have him! Did Tiny Tim not ADD to the fabric?
Awesum! So your cd already went out of stock? And now it is back in stock? Or is that just a stock reply? Have you stocked up on your on CD to make it go...out of stock?
that is to say, i have my idea of what good music should be. but that doesn't mean i think mr ringer should hang it up -- only that i probably won't be front row at his next concert. but then there are plenty of successful musicians that i can't listen to. but i suppose that's why there are a million styles of music out there. one size don't fit all. if anything, richard has more nads than most, and i do appreciate that!
