I have 2 questions for some one ( any one )

# 1.  Dose any one use CAKEWALK for recording.

# 2. If so can you use it to change the key of a song?

Yes sir, I do and have used thier stuff for several years.

As to changing the key, that's a yes and a no.

When building MIDI parts you can change the key of these(unrecoded) parts. As to my knowledge you cannot change the key of an audio track.

Hope that helps and ask more if ya need more,

Jack

When i was on Cakewalk 9 a few years ago, I think even the audio would get pitch shifted. But it sounded terrible with lots of artifacts.

With the incarnation of Sonar 4 (5?), that capabilitiy might be much better. Not sure though, I jumped to Apple and Logic.

As JAck said, though in the midi area, it's a piece of...err...cake(walk).

As far as I'm aware, the key can be changed in most cakewalk products by using transpose functions. These can either be done by:

i) altering the key setting associated with each track (this doesn't alter the notes stored within the sequencer - it's simply applies an offset and is probably the best option when experimenting) or

ii) using the transpose function to actually change the notes stored within the sequencer.

This is a fairly simple and basic operation. Regards,

Alex Stevens.
