Post Info TOPIC: made artist?

made artist?

In one of my comments on my comment page, someone said I was a made artist. I'm not exactly sure what they meant- if I was born to be an artist-or if I was already a popular artist in the mainstream music industry. I would just like this person to know that I have yet to have one of my songs played on the radio. I've heard a lot of artists on the radio that have a similar sound, but none of them were me. Unless radio DJ's play my songs without me knowing it, I'm pretty sure I haven't been on the radio yet. And if anyone knows if radio DJ's sometimes play an artist's submitted music without the artist knowing it, please let me know, because I would really like to know if they have or will do that. I would'nt be upset if they do, but rather greatful knowing that someone has actually heard my song or songs on the radio. I do play every week at a church in Alton, IL called xtreme cafe. You can visit this website by going to www.xtremecafe.com to learn more about the church. I am also in a band. The name of the band is Searching. You can visit the under construction website for Searching at www.myspace.com/searchingband

p.s. there is an artist out there named Daniel Lanois or something like that. I have seen his CD's in certain record stores. Maybe you have mistaken him for me, or maybe you really have heard one of my songs played live or on the radio. Who knows, and if you do know, please let me know. Thanks for reading.

I think all that person meant was that you have a radio sound. You said yourself that a lot of people sound like you. I don't think anyone played your songs without your knowledge. Radio stations don't generally play CDs sent to them by just anybody; otherwise a lot more people would be on the radio, don't you think?

I know you probably already know this, but after reading this post several times I had to make sure: you do know that there's more to musicianship than getting a station to play your song, right? Because it doesn't really show in your post. And if you fly into this pseudo-obsessive radio tirade anytime someone makes a slightly ambiguous comment like, "you're a made artist," you're going to lose your mind. Flattery is almost as big a part of the music business as the music is. You'll do well to take each compliment (and criticism) with a grain of salt.
