In the top of Dad's dresser, first drawer on the right
Two little boxes of treasures, he kept, easy to find
Fancy pencils and pens that had seen their last line
And the Old broken watches, he kept for all time.
There's an old silver Zippo, he never lit,
I never saw him light one cigarette.
Medals and Ribbons from a war he survived.
As if he kept them in honor of his friends that died.
Did some of these things make him cry ?
Was it joy, or sorrow, could he tell my why.
Questions with answers I haven't found yet.
The man I barely knew, But will never forget
If he was still here to guide me
Would he like the Man I've come to be
Two little boxes, Too little Time.
Two Little Brothers, seeking answers like mine
He Saved pieces of his life in little boxes
It occurred to me today..... I do the same !
Am I just like him, Was he just like me ?
Then, Just like that, a little answer came.
I won't find my Dad in those Two Little Boxes
Though I could search until the day I die.
Let me tell you something, little brother
I find my Dad complete, in you and I
I guess that's why........
In the top of my dresser, first drawer on the right,
The old broken watches, I keep for all time

( I invite any and all of the writers on AW to help me with this song if you care to. It is a work in progress. Change lyrics, music, or arrangement. That is fine with me. Don't bother critisizing if you aren't interested in helping. Just add you own input ( Lyrics, Music, Vocal, Intrumentation, if you care to. As I said , Fix it, where you think it needs fixing.)
