JEFF MILLER
In a weather beaten cedar chest, ... all my mothers dreams
Filled with hopes and yesterdays, till it opened at the seams
In among the woven blankets, a picture stained with tears
Of a hard man she had seldom seen, but held for 30 years
And crusty ancient sourdoughs, who knew every soul in hell
Told it as a legend, a story I knew well
Of a drunken ol' prospector, who wandered all his li...fe
Tradin' grubstake and provisions, .. for another Indian wife
So I followed in your footsteps, from Scaggway on to Nome
From Valdieze, up to Prudue Bay, the Great Land is my home
You earned your reputation, where all the rivers froze
No question, I'm your daughter, the one you called your Rose
Now often times I wonder, how much we're the same
Well It's something in the blood, and it's something in the name
Livin' with this reputation, that everybody knows
No question I'm you daughter, but am I still your Rose
