How ironic it is that we finally have a site that all of us as musicians and song writers can bare our hearts in music and hope for inspiriation and a learning soundboard. When mostly I find Jealousy and bad karma. We are, as I see it, siblings in this crazy world of music. Sure we find it easy to fight, but in the long run don't we find a bond . I am willing to help you, are you willing to help me? We were sent on this earth to need each other. Now , get up off your high horse and start contributing to the music we were sent here for.
Be crytical if you must in a constructive way. we need no more bad boys on this site. Let's just make Great music!!!
Constructive, even when giving negative feedback, is highly desirable. Too many comments - and I'm not talking esp. about ones I receive, I see the same thing on every song I listen to and rate as well - have nothing to offer in the way of advice for improvements, don't talk about strengths/weaknesses, and don't point out particular characteristics that need attention. Instead of using their wit to make rudely clever and sarcastic but totally useless comments, reviewers should show us how smart they really are by saying something we can use.
One other comment for reviewers - if you don't know anything about the conventions, characteristics, themes, expectations, etc., for a genre, don't bother listening to and commenting on a song in that genre. Myself, I do not comment on songs in several genres (Techno, Hip Hop, New Age, a couple of others), because I don't know enough about these genres to assess the songs properly, so my comments would not be helpful. Some comments show the same mentality as the old line "I don't know anything about art, but I know what I like, and this ain't it" - total ignorance, and proud to flaunt it.
We just need a reviewers Union then if the people don't follow my will, I mean my rules, damn, what I am trying to say is this. I can't listen to a song if I don't know how they made it? I drive a truck and I don't know how they made it...?
I'm kidding, I'm a kidder. Might I say that in the sweet exchange of audible thoughts we dare build up a border or rules that select listeners and the listened to will subscribe to, least we be measured by that same, ah, you know.
