What mic(s) do you use for vocals?

I have used the AT4050 for a long time for vox and love it. Not too expensive either. (as vocal mics go) Also pretty good for acoustic guitars. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/home/navigation?q=AT+4050

I've liked the neumann mics that i used in studios, but i can't afford $3k for a mic. I'll check out the akg's.

I use a Rode NT1 large diaphragm condensor...it's not a Neuman, but it's respectable. Clean, reasonably flat, seems to have a slight proximity effect. I like it. I think I paid $200 for it.

I like the NT1 as well, It seems to want a bigger room where I am. If I cannot get the sound I want from it OR when doing a different instrument/harmony part I like to use a Peavy PVM22.

I use a Shure SM58 for pretty much all of my studio recordings. I also use them for live shows as well. This is not a condenser mic though. The condenser mics sound great for acoustic recordings. I have heard that the Shure SM57's are better mics for instruments.

Shure are real good live mics, I had a 58 that we abused for years until it just finally lay in pieces:) Your right about the 57, I'm considering getting another one of each, can't have too many, well ya can, but I don't yet.

Yep, the Rode NT-1 is my vocal mike of choice. It's also peachy for acoustic guitar, especially run through a Presonus Eureka channel strip.

Yea, it pretty much needs phantom power or its just a big quiet hat rack.
