Adam had got some serious talent. His recordings leave something to be desired, but the great songs shine through. I can sing his songs in my head, and that is hard to do as an amatuer. I also like Brad Benton.
"Where did the love go?" by the Growlers is a really nice song. Production and effects are weak, as well as the vocals, but I can't get the damned thing out of my head! Barb Sharples has one of those amazing voices that needs a good song
I agree that Barb Sharples is up there. I also like Daniel Casavant, mostly for his guitar playing. Of course his song, I Will Be A Real Cowboy, is perhaps my favorite on Artist Weekly. Aaron Lee Doyle is also up there too.
Hi Brad..... You are one of the very best on AW, and certainly the most prolific! Sorry for always complaining about your sound. It's just that everything else is SO GOOD; the songwriting, arranging, concept, playing, singing, etc.! Am I correct in assuming you do it all?
Kellie Drew and Appendix get my vote for most creative musically, so far that I've heard here. By creative I don't mean that they're pounding out dissonant chords and making sure to modulate key 3 times. They just have a sense of surprise in their tunes. I often find myself going "Holy ***, where did this section come from...I love it!" I want a song to be a journey and so far they do that in their stuff.
The John Oakes Band had a FLAMING song this week, so maybe they're nudged in there too. Great rhythmic ideas, a nice gritty voice, solid production.
yup ... do it all. I appreciate your sincere constructive criticism, as well as your compliments. Sorry a lot of the stuff sounds ruff, and a lot of times tiny, but, the production part of the process I'm just not gifted with, nor very interested in. I simply want to write music for others to perform (for money, of course :o)) ... but, i would appreciate guidance on the production part as well ... i'm barely familiar with EQ's and MHz and all of that other production mumbo jumbo. But, keeping in mind that I am only interested in the song writing side of music, I would hate to be judged and/or rated poorly because of the quality of the production! A good song can be picked out regardless if it was recorded professionally or not!! Thanks again for your sincerity. Brad

Sorry to interrupt......you're probably writing another song (haha)! You compose, arrange, sing, play and record these tunes by yourself!! What a guy!! Wish I had something to offer in the way of recording techniques, but I guess musicians aren't often very good at that. I do believe though, that raters give a higher score to what pleases their ear, and higher ratings catch the judges' eye. I'd sure like to hear more "bottom" (a fuller sound)! Anyway, AW is still new, but when it gets more known about, I think artists looking for new material will be checking it out. It's only a matter of time for you, me thinks! I'm with ya.....rb
i appreciate that! I don't think I have as good of a concept of what my stuff actually sounds like, as others do ... as far as the production part. But, since Im not familiar with the production part, I'm not sure what my little digital recorder is capable of. I will work, though, on playing around with the EQ's and stuff to try to get you a fuller sound. thanks again for your compliments!
