Damnit! What the **** is it? 15 people submit music, three people listen to it and2 or 3 people keep the forums alive! Is it me? Am I so damn smart that you losers are afraid to open your mouths and tell us what you know?
How many days you got left before you die...and die a nobody because you were afraid to come out of your warm safe skin and RISK something?
Show me a music related website that you think is great. Did you know that there is a website that is developing an interface that CAN access ANY audio format file on the web(not behind a firewall) like say files located @ www.myspace.com?
Why should you care? Because they will make money by selling your tunes using this interface and not ONE penny will you recieve from this transaction.
I have already contacted them and there may be some of your stuff available as well. Want to know how to find out?
I guess the question is what shall we talk about... I dip in here daily to see what's up but not a lot of topics really catching me as of late. Even the lyric one by Ronnie, I agree with him but I've already said that same point 2-3 times here.
So kick off the jams, coJack! What's the hot topic today?
For me the site really comes and goes in waves. Sometimes I feel like participating and other times I don't. As of late not even really interested in listening. Been busy.
For what's it's worth, my wife and I moving back to the States late August. We've been spending a lot of time learning a new trade. But I guess that's not really a song writing topic.
Ronnie those 3 people I referred to are already here, you, Steve and the artist formerly know as Jack.
I was kinda thinking that some of the weekly winners would drop in and explain what it is about thier work that sets it apart from the rest of the losers:)
Or explain to me why Ricky Williams still smokes pot and is losing the best years of his career to it? It isn't about "the man" as he has suggested.
And then that maroon got his arm broken...you guys must play dirty.
Ricky? Ya, we accept all rejects up here in Canada. You're more than welcome (haha)! By the way, don't forget, Doc Ellis fired that no-hitter on LSD! I'm clean these days myself though (dull boy). I try to get Barb in here (Forum) but she's so busy with everything. Poor girl, I don't think she should even have to work! That's why I keep trying to promote her.
I just started looking at this site again today after about a month. I quit coming here at that time because of the bizarre interchanges that dominated these forums - arguments over basically *nothing* and people telling other people to get off the boards, etc; plus that was before there was any log in, and people would use each other's id's and get into horrendous squabbles not even knowing who was really who. Also, the whole site at that time seemed to be dominated by a certain clique that was very unreceptive to outsiders. So maybe it will start improving now. I got some emails about the log-in being required and so on. So I am willing to give it another shot, though you are right, there doesn't look to have been much activity on the boards lately. I will get back to checking some of the songs as well. Good luck with inspiring some interest.

I just started posting songs about a month and a half ago, and I'm probably done now because of the 'clique'. For some reason, bad reviews come in after you get into the top 3 every week. I wonder why that is? All I know is that the comments are really deconstructive and I don't need it. Also, I hope for your sake you play country. That seems to be the style of the 'clique'. If you don't, get out....NOW!
There's sometimes a fine line between a criticism about an aspect of a song, and a true "bad review." Because the comments are anonymous, most are completely devoid of sugar-coating, which can seem harsh -- especially to the songwriter. Anyway, I don't see much of a clique. Just some rough critiques. That's my very biased 2 cents.
Here are what I call "pointless, deconstructive reviews" and you call "devoid of sugar-coating":
Kender "Can't Get Enough"
How could this possibly win?
Highdroplain "Sometimes I Didn't Mind"
Oh dear.
Mike Hyden "Where Are My Car Keys"
If all you have to complain about is car keys well ..... give me a break.
Barb Sharples "On The Road Again (v2)"
oh no
Dave Roberts "Forevermore"
Holy Crap! This is exactly the reason I left this site. How could this possibly win second place in anything but a crap contest!! First runner up for the stinkiest!
Now, I'm not saying that all of the reviews are bad. I have gotten some really good feedback and believe me it wasn't all nice. I think getting an actual honest "review" is very helpful in the songwriting process to help iron a song out. On the other hand, there are a couple people, or maybe just one, that use the comments area to bash the weekly winners. Whoever is doing the above examples, do you think the weekly "winners" are getting a check or something? The weekly "winner" wins NOTHING! So please, if all you have to say is "oh no", "oh dear", or "give me a break", don't bother writing anything at all in the comments section. I shall now get off of my soapbox...
You're preaching to the choir. I understand if people don't like a song, but at least say WHY. I think there are people out there who are very, very narrow-minded and will only give a thumbs up if they hear a song that fits in with what they call good music. And really, the person who wrote a bad comment about Barb Sharples needs to have their ears checked.
I have seen this "oh my", "get a job", "how could this possible win" topic rear it's head time after fruitless time. Know what I think? I think that those that whine about this would like to put a name to the comment so thay can flame there ass. Because if these little bitty words are enough to scratch the skin...those that whine about this ain't gonna make it anyway.
If the comments need fixin, HD, lead by EXAMPLE.
(((I'm a veteran member, after 25 posts? Hell I'm like a Green Beret of making nonsense posts around here)))
Actually, if you want to see probably one of the most detailed reviews I've gotten, check out the review for 'Dust Under The Wheel'. It was left by Jeff Miller. Thank you Jeff, wherever you are. The other reviewers that I respect are mfrimmel, Alex Stevens, and CA. Thanks for 'keeping it real'...
Thanks, HD for noticing that I've been trying. I feel like I'm being spanked and fondled at the same time in this forum, so Jack I don't need the porn.
This is a really unusual place. I love it here.
Musicians are just plain nuts, especially the good ones.
What I meant Hd was if you want better comments...GIVE better comments. Set that example dude. Most of what goes on in the comment area are, as MFrimmel phrased, "drive by." Well put, of course he was talking about me, and I never drive by but the phrase is fitting to the overall camp.
I was just kidding about the porn CA, well, I'm kidding now. I was serious then but we are coming into the full of the moon.
Well, after my post, what I thought might happen did. The "drive by's" got worse. I think I'll wait for a while to post again. I'll be back, just not for a while. I actually have a life outside of this website that involves an ill father, so I have enough on my plate right now. So, drive by guy, you didn't win. I just don't want to deal with your bulls**t right now, I have enough of my own. Lata from Highdroplain / Dave Roberts / Off Centre / Country D.
Your perfect here Hd..all those personalities can mesh with the beauty and the beast! Sorry to read about your Father, good luck mpHd.
Mr. CA...start us another topic. Something that makes ya feel less dirty. How about a topic on photosynthesis?
Word to the wise...the drive bys will never stop. Matter of fact your doing pretty good with several different group names and being irritated by them only feeds the sharks. It's like a blink in a game of staredown.
