The Prospector

Too late to be a 49 'er

He spent his life prospecting gold,

Headed north from California

All the way to Silver Bow

He wasn't in it for the money

But all the whiskey could hold

That wasn't all that he was after

He loved the women I’ve been told

Hardships never did concern him

The isolation or the cold

He lived his life the way he wanted

It was a dream he never sold

Though it somehow seems unlikely

He never cheated never stoled

There weren't a man that didn't like him

They named at town for him you know

He wasn't what you'd call a good man

Or if he was it didn't show

They buried him a young man

In the town they called Juneau

In a shanty on the corner

The side of town where no one goes

Cries a woman and a baby

That her Daddy called his Rose

In a shanty on the corner

The side of town where no one goes

Cries a woman and a baby

That her Daddy called his Rose
