The song Amy starts out with the line "One is the lonliest number." The doggs did a tune titled "One" from thier Golden Biscuit album I believe from, what, 1975?
Looks to me Adam that this is the line in question but in my opinion, that is where the comparison should stop. You have your own sound and the lyrics of the two songs are far apart in what the subject matter is.
I located the lyrics( restless I guess) @ http://www.threedognight.com/
"One"
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do Two can be as bad as one It's the loneliest number since the number one
No is the saddest experience you'll ever know Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know `Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One is the loneliest number, worse than two
It's just no good anymore since she went away Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday
One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do It's just no good anymore since she went away (Number) One is the loneliest (Number) One is the loneliest (Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do (Number) One is the loneliest (Number) One is the loneliest (Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
My first thought was that someone saw the title, "Amy," and decided that the song was a ripoff of Amy by Pure Prairie League. I figured anyone who could confuse Adam's sound with 3 Dog Night could easily confuse 3DN with PPL.
Damn, now I'm confused.
Anyway, I'm usually very good at sniffing out swiped lines, and I didn't detect anything here. Your songs rock. Just get a drummer and a bass player. Oh, and while I didn't write the comment, I have to humbly agree that you must tune your guitar -- even on a demo. It's one of the few things you can do to acheive a better recording without spending a dime. Bad tuning is usually enough to kill a song for me. If someone doesn't care enough about their song to tune up, why should I care enough to give them 4 minutes of my life? You get a pass though, because I really dig your tunes.
thanks for finding that for me jack. your the man.
I do need to pay more attention to my guitar tunning. My tunner is a piece of crap. i need to invest in a new one. Would running one of those auto tunning programs help the recording of the guitar at all?
Auto tuning isn't necessary. Just get a decent tuner. I use a boss pedal tuner for stage and an old Korg needle-type tuner for recording. If your intonation is off, get the guitar a good set up from your local shop, or if the intonation is hopeless and you really HAVE to use that particular guitar, you can use something like Antares Autotune: http://www.zzounds.com/item--ANTAUTOTUNE
But for demos, I think the money would be better spent on repair or new gear.
