I have no choice when it comes to recording my songs.I can't afford doin' it any other way.I just love to play,sing & write songs.I'm sorry if they're hard to listen to,or if they just plain ole suck.I appreciate all comments & feed back.I'm not doin' this to win any contest or anything.I'm doin' it,coz I love to do it.I don't know what else to say.Thank you all.
I'm with Jack on this one. I've heard people get very good recordings out of a $100 4 track because they learned how to use it, and spent hours upon hours fine-tuning their sound until it was as good as possible. You may not have the cash for a studio, or even a pricey home studio setup, but I'll bet that you could make the equipment you've got sound pretty darn good. Also, you've got a lot of people here with some serious recording knowledge -- use us!
Donna - couple other things to think about. Do you go out in your local area to hear/network with other songwriters and performers? Don't know where you are based, but there are songwriting circles just about everywhere, and you can probably also get a wealth of assistance from musicians you meet and talk to - they are people who love what they are doing and generally glad to help. You would be surprised how many people have simple home systems that can record quite a good quality. Also, most studios can do your basic level of recording much less expensively than you may think - you don't seem to need a lot of elaborate add-ons, your basic guitar-vocals clearly have a lot of potential and would probably not require extensive mixing, enhancing, etc. to sound great. Just some thoughts - but I'm with Jack and BC, there are inexpensive or no-cost ways to improve your products and show your material to better advantage.
Hey-we're BUSY PEOPLE. In any case Donna, I have a mic I give you or if you don't have an ad/da box or preamp maybe you could buy one of those "blue" USB powered things, for like a hundred bucks (Its a halfway decent condenser mic that plugs directly into a USB port on your computer), and download n-track studio which I think is still free or almost free. Seriously cheap improvements to recording quality...

Donna, I'm not sure where you are, but small recording studios are so prevelant today that the average price is shockingly low. we record demos, like an acoustic and vocal for 35$/hr and can rip off 3 to 4 tunes, quickly in that time. One 30-45 min session with just you and your instrument would give you better results at a premium. You could use your local craigslist to find small/home studios that would do the job. Also, roland, as well as many others, has a new small recorder, the Br-600, that would rival the sound of studios just a few years ago for about $400.00 dollars, used ones at pawn shops would be even less. Just keep an open mind and be patient in finding what works best for you and your pocket book.
Well , its a process and if you have a few hundy you can do well with one of many many cheap and descently cheap sounding plastic chinese recorders from digital to casette. Its all pretty much junk but it works well enough to get your ideas out on. Dont be held hostage by recording ****, just pony up. peace and love and good luck CUZIN D
Donna, it might just be a bad cord causing that hum. Your little recorder gets your point across just fine. You have GREAT feeling/soul. Others may need a studio much more than you....!
Hey Ronnie, if a little recorder will do the trick why don't you get one, take a hike out in the woods and record something new? No privacy in the privy?
