Alright Everybody! Chill!

I get away from the computer for a few days at the holidays and suddenly the place goes to pot!!  Ok, maybe not that bad but the comments posted certainly are a lil' harsh!

Hello everybody and Happy New Year!!  This is Joe Lamont from Doug DeJoe and The BloomLaters!  I took a look at the song list and saw that a little commotion in the comments has started!  Well, remember, that most if not all of us have no control over who votes and/or why!  It might be important to remember to let certain comments just pass into history.  I've been playing a long time and have found that being a mediocre keyboard player requires that one have a tuff skin!  I have taken a beating from time to time!  I remember one gig in Ruidoso New Mexico back in the 90's when an old cowboy sat at the bar and listened to us just about all night!  At the end of the night, we were loading out and he slowly swaggered up to the bandstand and in an old west Texas drawl he said, "you know, I sure like some of them songs you boys are tryin' to play, and to tell the truth, you boys ain't half as bad as you sound"!!  Sooo!  That hurt!!  Just keep in mind that all you can do is all you can do!  Submit the song and treat the next guy/gal fairly!  Be honest, but not cruel, what's the point!  It's cliche', but if you're attacking someone else in that manner, you're really saying alot more about your own securities or lack thereof!

Word up.

BTW, you really need to punch up that story by revealing that the Texan was Hank Williams, or some other legend. Doesn't matter that it isn't true, it just makes the story stronger.

Yes, I critique everything.

Happy New Year!

Ohhh!  Forgive me for not dropping names, the "Texan" was Bob Wills!  Bob is from Turkey Texas, not far from Amarillo and firmly "West Texas"!  If you know the area, then you know the specific accent!  Poo poo you BC.!  Hank Sr. is from Georgiana Alabama which is quite accurately not west Texas!!!!  Do I have to teach everything!!! (tounge firmly planted in cheek)!!! Your are correct however, the story is much better with a lil' embellishment, which is why I'm just a mediocre piano player and not a songwriter!  Just for the record BC, If Doug would have told that story, the Texan would've been a very drunk Mojo Nixon!!  But you're probably too young to be that Hip!!  LOL

Happy New Year BC and all!!

Mojo? Elvis is Everywhere!

Dang it, I know Hank wasn't a Texan -- he also died in '53. These are details that must be overlooked in the name of poetic license! Did anyone question Carl the greenskeeper about the Dalai Lama playing golf? No. As long as the story is good, embellishments are forgiven. Hmm. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Mojo isn't a Texan, either - he's an east coast NC-VA boy. But his buddy Kinky Friedman would make a good name to drop in to the story.....
