Out of tune vocals anyone?

Ok the song of the week aint bad but does performance count for anything? wait....how about singing in pitch? or does that not matter? I am begining to see how conservative this site is and how its a bit songwriting 101 with people telling you how a song should go or be written!
There are no rules about writing and this site seems to have rules about writing. I tell you what folks , the world doesnt need anymore of that!!!!!!!!!!! its boring !!!! its spent and ridiculous to be thinking in such an old school way. I am dissapointed in the lack of insight with the judges who are so called pros. Who are these judges anyway? and you know what?..................... it dont matter, and that is the worst thing of all!
peace and love

Wow. I've posted this in the past, but for anyone interested in more info on some of our short-sighted, so-called pro judges, who obviously know nothing about anything:

Here are links for some of the judges (the ones that have websites and are ok with being "outed"). A couple of them have posted stuff just for kicks when we were starting the site, but click below for more info and some music. Some of them you've heard of, some you haven't, but these are all people whose opinion I value greatly. This group of folks here have over 100 years of combined industry experience (Albert Lee has about 75 years on his own! --sorry Mr. Lee).

No offense CuzinD, but using an attack strategy seems fruitless.  Help me to understand what you would like to see done?  If it's changing the judges, who should the site get and how much should the site pay them if they won't work pro-bono.  And how long should any honarable judges, which I believe most are, stay in light of these attacks.  Do you have names or contacts with pros that you would like to see used instead.  And if a change is made, how long will that person last when the inevitable attacks start in on him/her from future posters that aren't happy with the results.  My point being, are you sincere in getting you're hands dirty and really trying to help out this site.  I am a relatively new member and hold no position.  But, our band works hard at what we do, we write the best songs that we can, in our style, and record at great sacrifice.  We are happy to have a place to be heard other than the few clubs we play locally.  I appreciate this site, but wonder how much administraters and judges will put up with when the attacks are high in insults and low in genuine ideas.

Well first off, attacking is abit of a strong term. Is this site about writing? industry? or what? I am talking about the art of this music thang. If you want to talk industry , well thats a different story. I am talking about non comforming. Is there any producer or writer in the game that doesnt want to make a million, have his or her opinions be the standard? Brave new music is what i am looking for not just mere acceptance! I am not saying the judges are wrong or bad , i just simply put the questions out there. I know bigger more successful producers than any of these guys you mentioned Baron and guess what ! I am not impressed at all! I love the BOSS but the whole idea of your reply is based on something that is kissing ass to the status quo. I am just not sure whAt this site is about and opinions are like refrigerators.
......moving on.................

and by the way jalmont..... my ideas are genuine and i beleive they are helpling this site , this is the real world not romper room(as was explained to me) I offer a curveball to reflect on, i am helping this site, just try and see it from my point of view for a minute, think about it and then let me know what you think.
Its all an illusion my friend and having a meager attitude towards this biz is ass backwards, you got to fight for your music my man !!!!!!!!!! fight for your say, it might not make you friends with everyone but it will with the ones that matter.
peace and love

The basis of my reply is this: You asked a question and I answered it. I kiss nobody's ass. Like I said, these are people who's opinions I value -- and you'd be surprised at how varied their opinions can be. But they are just opinions, so take 'em or leave 'em.  I imagine you'll leave 'em.

I had my say, simply by typing, not fighting.  Incidentally, your initial post stated that this site was imposing "rules".  I just don't see it.  Maybe some rules about content, such as it would not be appropriate to say F-this or something, but musically, the opinions are just that! Opinions are not iron clad and if you don't think there is diversity of opinion here, just read some of the comments on the "listen and rate".  In the spirit of this, I accept your post as an opinion, just like mine and all the rest.  Well done Cuzin!

Come on D...this is all about your work not gettin' picked for a numerical position, nothin' else.

This weeks winning positions are there for a real reason, they deserve it. That is not too say you and your bands work does not. It may deserve more attention next round. Or it may be a few weeks, who knows. Might be next year.

But passive/aggressive suggestions that your work is better then the musical selections made by the AW staff is the mark of an over-inflated out-of-balance ego, wouldn't you say?

So write/arrange something. Take that frustration and build the perfect beast, something that is too good for this site...and then let us hear it anyway.

Frankly I do not know why any self respecting musician would submit to being raked over the coals by complete strangers.

Now gettin' raked over the coals by Martina McBride...that's a rake I'll take.

By-the-by, I believe you are currently engaged in fight with the ones that matter...

Bc, tell 'em the one about how the listener comments really don't mean a thing in makin' a selection or how even the flames are just there to entertain the masses so they don't bug the judges with all kinds of endless self-serving attacks on the website and the songs and, oh...nevermind.

Honestly folks, we are here because, initially, we thought this was a cool concept.  We thought, we like to compete, we think we're pretty good, let's do it!  And, we wanted to be heard by as many folks as possible, and low #'s or not, we've done that here and we're fine with the speedbumps.  I thought it was as simple as that for just about everybody! No!?
