(Preview)
I just got a roland br-600 digital 8 track (which is really a 6-track that they claim is 64 tracks...) and I need to bounce tracks. That should be really easy, but the manual is throwing me off. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. Anyboby have one of these things?

To clarify, I am a newbie to songwriting, and we're going to be getting a computer pretty soon to help aid in songwriting. Whether you use Cakewalk, Sonar, MasterWriter or any other songwriting/mixing program, what kind of vocal mic do you use to record your vocals to your hard drive? And how does the...

A cheaper studio means more time to wk on ur Tunes!
(Preview)
There was a time, back in the 70's, when bands would enter the studio for months or even longer. The end product was usually better for it, I think. We record at a very fast pace, usually 4 tunes at a time and In hate it! I understand monetary concerns so I live with it, but it's hard not t...

Digital vs Analog
(Preview)
Of course, with the advent of digital recording, everything is cheaper and faster and somewhat easier, we still like the warm "attitude" of analog however. When given the chance, we still record analog, we just mix dig and ana. We usually make the bed on digital, a pro tools desk, and the...

This is very important, and I am prolonging doing the dishes on account of it.
I'm starting to experiment with recording on GarageBand, and am also currently playing around with a trial version of Amadeus II. I can do a lot with Amadeus but how do I take a file from that program and import it into Gara...

MacBook?
(Preview)
Hey folks.
I'm really antsy to start doing home recording, of both studio and live variety. My MacBook obviously has Garageband but I'm wondering if there are other (maybe better) Mac-friendly tools I should know about.
For example, I know that ProTools has a free version of their software...

Recording floor
(Preview)
I have a new room to work in. It has carpet which I intend to remove. All things being equal, does a concrete floor have as good a reflective ability as a wood floor?
I'm thinking take out carpet, maybe even ceramic tile would get it done. Concrete, wood or some other dense covering.
Where can I lo...

Cakewalk Homestudio9

Does anyone know why when you have midi tracks and audio tracks and you try to mix them down to wave format you lose the midi? The only alternative I've found is to mix down to 2 stereo tracks on the "bouce to tracks" option to get it all on one set and then convert to MP3. But then you wind up losi...
